Children, Toys and the planet Earth

A Manifesto to make children aware of their rights in relation to their toys, inspiring a sense of belonging to the Earth.

1. Children have the right to joyfully play with toys and playthings, taking an acceptable level of risk, with or without adult presence, developing knowledge, skills and self-awareness.

2. Children have the right to make, repair and re-invent their toys.

3. Children have the right to play with Earth friendly toys that do not involve exploiting others.

4. Children have the right to play with a variety of toys that come from different parts of the world.

5. Children have the right to know as much as possible about the toys’ impact on the Earth.

6. Children have the right to be supported by local, national and international policies which recognise toy-making activities as an important part of their lore.

To play, children don't need toys but toys offer additional possibilities to develop play activity.
